For centuries Orchids have been a symbol of love, luxury and beauty. I recently saw a movie entitled Adaptation with Nicholas Cage and Meryl Streep. The movie was based on a New Yorker article about John Laroche who was an expert on Orchids until he ran afoul of the law while trying to remove some orchids from a Florida swamp. The movie certainly opened my eyes to the beauty and mystique of this incredible flower.
