I walked for hours trying to find what makes St. Moritz so appealing as a resort. The town is located on a the side of a mountain with a scenic lake below. Mountains surround it on almost all side and the view is spectacular. Very reminiscent of Lake Louise. I would imagine that in the summer, it would even be better. Right now the frozen lake looks just like a sheet of blank, white, paper. The architecture of the town is breathlessly boring. Most old buildings, with the exception of a few hotels, have been replaced by modern, box like construction with no charm whatsover. The most exciting thing I saw was an old leaning tower. There was a World Polo on Ice Championship on this weekend and this gave me a good reason to go on the ice and see St. Moritz from a different perspective. In the end I concluded that it's all about the view, not the town.
