
This is the village where I spent the first ten years before we emigrated to Canada. In the picture below, the Black Forest is in the background and Eichstetten is in the middle surrounded by vineyards. The area around the village is volcanic rock which makes it suitable for growing grapes. I have been back several times over the last 20 years, mostly to attend class reunions which are held every five years. This time, an impromptu reunion dinner was organized with about 20 former classmates. A great time was had by all, and I must admit that being in German speaking countries for the last month certainly helped me be able to converse much more easily than in previous years.
