When the air is considerable colder than the water, steam rises from the lake and the effect is referred to as Lake Smoke. The outside temperature was -20, (with the windchill, it was probably -30). My running gear this morning consisted of: Two pairs of socks, two layers of track pants, three layers of shirts, balaclava,neck warmer, touque, glove liners, gloves, and a nylon shell. With all the gear, it's a wonder I could move my limbs. Didn't freeze though; cheeks were a bit cold at the end as were my toes but the rest of me was 'cozy-wozy', as Brody would say.
